Job Summary:

Love Learning Music is seeking a passionate and versatile Part-Time Music Teacher to share their musical expertise with students of all ages, with a primary focus on youth. This exciting opportunity allows you to teach in your area of musical proficiency through both engaging group classes and personalized one-on-one instruction, inspiring students to develop their skills and cultivate a lifelong appreciation for music. Key responsibilities include creating engaging and effective lesson plans for both individual and group settings, providing high-quality music instruction tailored to diverse learning styles and needs, and maintaining clear and consistent communication with Love Learning Music administrators. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in their instrument(s), possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and thrive in a flexible and rewarding part-time role that involves working with students in various learning environments.

Responsibilities: Teaching general music foundations such as rhythm, harmony, melody, song structure, chords, notes, and listening. The most important areas of our music education instruction are communication, listening, musical ability, and academic improvement.

  • Creating engaging and effective lesson plans for both individual and group settings.

  • Providing high-quality music instruction tailored to diverse learning styles and needs.

  • Maintaining clear and consistent communication with Love Learning Music administrators.

  • Traveling to your assigned teaching location and arriving at least 10-15 minutes early.

  • Mentoring students as needed, some students need a little extra attention and adaptations to learn well. These strategies can be developed with the LLM Team.

  • Communicating well with parents, children, and LLM team members.

  • Supervising and keeping children safe.

  • Reporting anything having to do with students that is questionable or concerning to LLM Admin.

 

Qualifications & Skills:  The Part-Time Music Teacher position requires a foundational understanding of music essentials (music theory, ear training, etc) and youth development (how to work with children/youth).  Education and experience are very helpful and important. Although, the most important requirements for this position are passion and work ethic. With passion and work ethic, the class content and skills can be easily learned and then taught to students.

  • Communication skills

    • Emailing, texting, and calling is important. The Love Learning Music communication expectation is that no message goes more than 24 hours without some type of response (on weekdays). Of course, life warrants exceptions sometimes.

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

  • Must be at least 18-years-old and pass a general background check

  • Passion for helping people develop well

  • Work ethic to always give your best, seek solutions, and persevere

  • Time management skills

    • The Nashville and Middle Tennessee area is dense with traffic, so we require good time management skills to ensure you will be on time to your scheduled programs.

  • Proficient in understanding rhythm, melody, dynamics, harmony, and form

  • Proficient in teaching group classes of at least 15 people

  • If interested in teaching private lessons, there must be proficiency in your instrument(s) of choice.

    • For example, if teaching private piano lessons, you must be proficient in playing piano.

 

Salary & Benefits:  The standard rate for Love Learning Music teachers is $70/hour for all instruction time. We pay travel as a standard rate of $15, and planning time is a standard rate of $20. For example, if you drive to a location and provide 2 hour of instruction, your total pay would be $175. This position will be paid as W-2, ensuring you are insured under Love Learning Music’s insurance policy. Love Learning Music does not currently offer standard employee benefits, but that is a goal and is in process.

 

Support System:  The Love Learning Music family is just that, a family!  

  • Help with your position can be received by collaboration with team members. Coaching for your position from experienced professionals can be scheduled upon request, subject to availability. Coaching sessions will be over Zoom according to coaches’ availability.  

  • Our Curriculum Team has weekly meetings on Friday afternoons from 4:00-5:00 PM Central Time. These meetings provide team assistance with lesson planning and processing how lesson plans went the previous week. Furthermore, our Curriculum Team is a support group for teachers and special needs professionals to encourage one another in the work we all do every day.

  • Also, as available, Love Learning Music provides team care through intentional and structured discipleship.  

  • There is the option to schedule discounted or free counseling sessions with a local counselor.  

  • The goal is to care for the team so the team can care for our community. If there is ever any lack of support, it will be met in the best possible way, which also suits your needs.
