Jacob Keener - Music Theory, Drums, Piano, & Audio Production 

Our all-around music educator and rhythm specialist, Jacob Keener has been studying drum set and percussion for over 10 years and teaching since 2010. Additionally, he studied classical piano and continues to teach beginner and intermediate piano lessons to youth and young adults. Originally from mid-Missouri, he found a passion for music education early on and chose to pursue this through higher education. Jacob earned his Bachelor of Music Education, with an emphasis in percussion, from the University of North Texas. At North Texas he performed with the Symphony Orchestra, the Green Brigade Marching Band, along with a variety of percussion ensembles. While in Texas, Jacob served as the Front Ensemble percussion tech for Argyle Independent School District from 2014-2015 and the percussion & piano lesson instructor for Celina Independent School District from 2013-2015 where he also taught music theory classes.

 

Currently, Jacob is nearing completion of a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Recording Arts and Technologies at Middle Tennessee State University.  He serves as an instructor for “Commercial Musicianship,” an undergraduate class offered in the College of Media & Entertainment introducing students to the principles of music within the context of contemporary commercial music styles. He also serves as an instructor of percussion at the Murfreesboro Academy of Music.

 

Jacob is currently a member of the Percussive Arts Society, the Audio Engineering Society, and the Texas Music Education Association.
